Accounts, privacy, and what Pro unlocks.
Do I need an account?
No. TabTell generates a device id locally. Opening the app does not create a TabTell login. Pro uses App Store Restore Purchases bound to that device.
Where is my data stored?
On your device in SQLite (SQLCipher on native). Cloud snapshots, when you enable them with Pro, are encrypted before upload — we only store ciphertext.
What is free vs Pro?
Free covers local transactions, reminders, guest events, on-device speech, JSON export, and 10 AI chats per day. Pro adds receipt OCR, encrypted backup, live event invites, and 100 AI chats per day.
Can guests join a split without installing?
Event members can be names only on your phone. Live invites (Pro) let others join a shared event when you publish one — that event’s data is visible to everyone who joins.
How do I move to a new phone?
Export JSON anytime on free. With Pro, restore an encrypted snapshot with your passphrase, then Restore Purchases to rebind Pro to the new device.
Is TabTell a bank or tax tool?
No. TabTell is a personal finance helper. You are responsible for amounts you confirm into the ledger. It is not a bank, tax advisor, or legal settlement service.
